Honest comparison

Analisa vs Umami

Umami is one of the most complete open source analytics tools around. This page shows plainly where it wins and where Analisa makes more sense.

Umami is MIT-licensed, runs on Node.js and PostgreSQL and is also offered as a managed service (Umami Cloud). It covers a lot: events, funnels, journeys, retention, attribution, revenue and Web Vitals.

Analisa is a managed service with a tighter scope — acquisition and conversion — and ships with automatic JavaScript error capture and a per-visitor export/delete API for GDPR requests.

Pick Analisa if…

  • You don’t want to run a server, a database and upgrades: you want to paste a script and be done.
  • You want JavaScript errors captured automatically, grouped next to your traffic.
  • You need to answer data subject requests with per-visitor export and deletion by API.
  • You want a narrow, conversion-focused dashboard rather than a broad product analytics suite.

Pick Umami if…

  • You want to self-host under a permissive license (MIT).
  • You need reports Analisa doesn’t have, such as revenue by campaign, custom segments and cohorts.
  • You want to audit or modify the code of the whole product.

Moving from Umami

It’s a script swap: run both for a few days and compare.

  1. 1

Create the account and the site

Sign up free, add your site and list your domain under Allowed origins.

  2. 2

    Add the script

Follow the install guide or the guide for your stack. No need to remove Umami yet.

  3. 3

    Swap event calls

umami.track("signup") becomes analytics.track("signup"). Events declared with HTML data attributes need to become JavaScript calls.

  4. 4

Recreate goals and funnels, then remove Umami

Set up goals (by event or by path) and funnels with the same steps. Compare for a week and remove the old script.

Frequently asked questions

Is Analisa open source like Umami?

The SDK is published on npm under the MIT license. The dashboard and ingestor are a managed service; a self-hosting guide is on the roadmap.

Can I bring my Umami data over?

There’s no import yet. Analisa starts counting the day its script goes live.

Does Analisa collect Web Vitals without setup?

Yes. The SDK measures LCP, FCP, CLS, INP and TTFB by default. Each measurement counts as an event; turn it off with autoWebVitals: false if you don’t need it.
